I started by removing the bottom of the treadmill. It turns out
that most of the good stuff is accessed from the top, so I'd start
there next time. The transformer-like thing is a large choke coil,
which is needed. I'm not sure if I could have gotten that out from
the top or not.
The gizmo in the center of the picture is the motor that raises and
lowers the treadmill platform to simulate walking uphill. The
incline motor is bi-directional, and heavily geared down -- it might
be useful for something. It's an AC motor: apply 110V between common and
one of the other terminals to turn the motor one way or the other. I kept it,
but I'm not sure what I might do with it.
